Stadje in Tsjechië, waar ik de kapel vond waarin Casanova ligt begraven. Op de linkerbladzijde een schets van de steen op de gevel, ter zijner nagedachtenis en op de rechterbladzijde, het uitzicht dat ik had vanaf betreffende kapel...

Burcht Schwalenberg

Tussen 1228 en 1231 bouwden de graven van Schwalenberg een burcht op de heuveltop en stichtten er de stad die naar hen werd genoemd. 

De burcht wordt sedert 2017 uitgebaat als hotel en restaurant.

In de omstreken van het dorpje Schwalenberg gaat de mythe dat het water er opwaarts stroomt. Indertijd dacht men dat de plaatselijke bron lagergelegen was dan het gehucht. De Cistersiënzers ontdekten echter door metingen, dat het dorpje in werkelijkheid twaalf meter lager lag, zodat ze het water via kanaaltjes naar het dorp lieten stromen...  Dit verhaal werd opgenomen in de "Deutsche Märchenstrasse" samen met o.a. ook de sprookjes van de gebroeders Grimm. Het is een route van 600 km die loopt van Hanau in centraal Duitsland naar Bremen in het noorden.

Ik bezocht dit pittoreske stadje vorige week, op mijn trip naar Hameln.

THRILLING / TRILLEN

KANTTEKENING

Twee vriendinnen hadden er tot en met vorige zondag samen met nog twee andere kunstenaressen een expositie lopen ("Trillen - Thrilling II"), in de St. Amanduskapel. Ik bracht ze dit weekeinde een bezoekje, nadat ik eerst ter plekke nog deze schets van de kapel met zicht op een stukje begraafplaats maakte ... 

Het Campo Santo is de laatste rustplaats van heel wat bekende Vlamingen. Hier ligt o.a ook een voormalig dorpsgenoot van mij - "De Prins der Nederlandse letteren" Filip De Pillecijn - begraven, hoewel hij het voor zichzelf (meer hierover via de link) toch wel even anders had gedroomd.

Reiger op promenade door het park

Lieflijk parkje in het hartje van Bazel (BE)

Achter de parking nabij de oude kloosterkapel op de campus van het OCMW te Bazel (Be) langsheen een smal weggetje tussen het groen, ontdekte ik heel toevallig dit lieflijke parkje (of was dit een voormalige kloostertuin?).

De zon scheen en de treurwilg over het vijvertje zag er zo beeldig uit dat ik niet kon weerstaan om er een tekening van te maken. Toevallig was er ook een oud stenen bankje net op de plek van waar dit alles rustig kon vastgelegd worden. Geen mens in de buurt.

De naam van dit plekje kon ik nergens terugvinden en ook Google earth bood geen antwoord. Zelfs foto's schenen er op het www. niet van te bestaan. Zou er dan, op enkele bejaarde voorbijgangers, verder niemand  weet hebben van deze dromerige binnentuin..?

Mocht u het herkennen en zo vriendelijk zijn mij de naam ervan te bezorgen, zou me dat erg blij maken...

Wie er wel op promenade kwam, toen ik mijn tekening beëindigd had, was de reiger die ik er onderaan nog gauw even bijtekende om het plaatje helemaal af te maken ...

Kanttekening

A special memory of Budapest...

The building in the background is a part of the St. Stephanus basilic drawn from the

Budapesti Történeti Múzeum where I had to do my utmost to catch this hooded crow on my paper.

It was an attraction itself for the tourists there, watching how this crow made a fool out of me by flying from here to there, with me following him.

But at the end he settled down on the wall, posing for the time needed to do my thing, offering me the nicest view in the background I could imagine ...

Way back in time lived and worked in silence and anonymity

humans on whom's shoulders

our society is build.

They were the nameless people who created the possibility for others to become legends.

Also in our times live a huge number of them.

They work for a better world, not with their mouth but with their hands.

I dedicate this one to all those silent workers who change the face of the earth for the better, without jumping on tables or making a fuzz about it.

They are my true heroes.

ANONYMUS

(schetsboektekening in grafiet)

Eveneens in het Városliget, nabij de ingang van het Vajdahunyad Kasteel, in de schaduw van deze reusachtige plataan die me letterlijk ruggensteunde tijdens het schetsen, "zit" verhuld in een monnikspij, het beroemdste standbeeld van het park. Het werd in 1903 gemaakt door Miklós Ligeti. Er is bitter weinig geweten over de geestelijke aan wie hier hulde wordt gebracht; vandaar dat men naar hem verwijst als "Anonymus". Deze mysterieuze monnik leefde in de 12e eeuw als de kroniekschrijver van koning Béla III. Hij is de vermoedelijke auteur van het eerste boek over de geschiedenis van de Hongaren, de ‘Gesta Hungarorum’. Het aanraken van de pen van de monnik zou naar verluidt geluk brengen tijdens de studies. Dat is dan ook de reden waarom het brons vooral op die plaats goudgeel glanst in de zon. (Meer hierover, bij mijn volgende publicatie ; een aquarel van dit beeld.)

The statue of Anonymus, the first medieval Hungarian chronicler, is located in Városliget (City park), in the courtyard of Vajdahunyad Castle. The work made in 1903 by the contemporary sculptor Miklós Ligeti, pays tribute to the nameless storyteller. What makes this work unique is that he manages to portray an important historical figure while hiding his face under a hood. Anonymus' work provides an insight into medieval Hungary. His chronicles were signed as 'the notary of the most glorious King Béla', which is still not enough to accurately identify him as there were four kings called Béla in the 12th and 13th centuries, leaving him anonymous for now.

He 's also supposed to be the author of the first book about the history of the Hungarian people, named the "Gesta Hungarorum". People believe, touching the monks pen, might bring luck during ones studies, this is the reason why the bronze on this particular place, shines like gold in the sunlight.  (More info in my next publication ; a watercolor of this statue)

In the citypark of Pest I met these two young ladies reading a book together, in the shades of some beautiful trees. How long did they sit there , so still ...?


Vàrosliget (Budapest, Hungary)

Het Városliget is een park in Boedapest. Het ligt achter het Heldenplein en Szépművészeti Múzeum en tussen de Dózsa György út en de Hungaria Körút. Het stadspark is met ongeveer 1 km² het grootste park van Pest.
